The Prolift Tailgate Assist replaces the standard tailgate chain or cable with a pair of aluminium struts that control how the tailgate opens and holds its position. Rather than dropping under its own weight, the tailgate lowers slowly and locks horizontal — making it easier to slide loads in and out and reducing the risk of the gate slamming onto cargo or the ground. The struts are fully retractable when the tailgate is closed and self-supporting when open, with no need for a secondary prop.

Installation and Compatibility

The Prolift system is a bolt-on installation that uses existing tailgate hinge points on most dual-cab ute models. It requires no drilling or permanent modification, and installation typically takes under 30 minutes. The struts are manufactured from extruded aluminium with stainless hardware for corrosion resistance in both coastal and outback conditions.
